Jasmine Trice



traces her roots in the Philippines, where her Filipina mother married an American. She was raised in the United States but is deeply connected with her maternal heritage. For her doctoral dissertation, she was invited to be a Research Associate at Isis International-Manila. She lived and worked in the Philippines for over a year. She has also been involved with feminist activism in the Philippines through work with Isis International and WeDpro where she has volunteered since the mid-2000. She is now a Lecturer at the National University of Singapore, where she teaches modules in cinema and media studies for the interdisciplinary Ideas & Exposition Programme. She earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Communication and Culture at Indiana University, Bloomington and is currently working on a book manuscript on cinema cultures in Metro Manila, Philippines. Her research has been funded through fellowships from the American Association of University Women and the Asian Cultural Council.
