Diego Silang Maranan


an artist, academic, and activist interested in the intersection of motion, bodies, technologies, and cultures. He is currently finishing an MA at the School of Interactive Arts and Technology (SIAT) at Simon Fraser University, where he had also previously studied computing science and contemporary dance. Diego is also an instructor at the University of the Philippines Open University, an affiliate faculty with the Centre for International Studies at the University of the Philippines Diliman, graduate student researcher at the Art+Performance Research Group at the SIAT, and the Emerging Technologies Coordinator for WeDpro, a non-profit organization that promotes the protection of human rights of women, youth and communities in the Philippines. He divides his time between Manila, Philippines and Vancouver, Canada. Diego completed his elementary and high school with honors from the University of the Philippines and went on a scholarship for his international baccalaureate at Pearson College in Canada. Diego is passionate about trying to bridge gaps when possible using the arts, technology, and the body as framing contexts. He maintains web sites:
